How the board works
Know why they're on the list.
The same rules for every restaurant and every person.
One equal vouch
Every person's vouch counts the same: one per place, from an account with a confirmed email. Members and free accounts count the same.
A vouch is your yes to a place. You can take it back in the app at any time.
Newer counts more
Newer vouches count more than old ones. A vouch counts half as much after 90 days, so the list keeps up with the kitchen.
The board is re-ranked daily.
An opening order that fades
The founder's first ten get a head start that shrinks to nothing as vouches arrive.
The head start shrinks with every vouch the city receives and is gone once the city has received 200 counted vouches. From then on, vouches alone decide the order.
Nothing for sale
No paid placement. Restaurants cannot pay to rise or to stay.
A City Insider membership adds insider notes, saves and an insider badge on your comments. It never changes how much a vouch counts or where a place ranks.
How a place gets on the board
Any eligible Houston restaurant can compete. Apart from the first ten's fading head start, vouches alone decide the order. No restaurant can pay for a spot, a feature or a better rank.
Missing a place? Nominate it in the app. Every nomination is checked before it can appear. Approval makes a restaurant eligible to compete; it never grants a rank or extra vote weight.
Free to everyone
All ten free. No invites, no phone number, no account to browse.
How cities open
A city opens when 300 people sign up for it and a trusted local sets its first ten. No borrowed lists from other publishers. We also open cities through local partners, named on each city's page. Partners are never restaurants, and they never choose, rank or pay for any place on the board, including the first ten.
